Normally I find Games Workshop’s horror minis cool, sometimes goofy (remember Tomb Kings archers?), but never creepy or disturbing (compare this with Privateer Press’s Cryx which are effortlessly disturbing).
Not so with the Nighthaunts. Many of them are proper disturbing: I think it’s the use of negative space. It’s what’s missing from the minis:
