Quality Levels

Here is a breakdown of these quality differences, along with some images. For side by side comparison of dipped, standard, and showcase,
see above.

Dipped vs. Standard vs. Showcase vs. Exhibition

Dipped Quality
- Basecoating, shading with polyurethane wood varnish applied by
brush, and shine removed using thinned washes of Vallejo matte
varnish.
- Extremely durable paint jobs.
- Good apperance, good for mass armies.
- See a
good independent article on dipping here.

Standard Quality
-Proper basecoating, shading, and highlighting. Two to three highlights,
usually drybrushed on.
-Color blending. Ink-based gems and glass.
-Options for either traditional block painting or GW style painting.
-Three color basing with use of simple basing supplies (flocking, static
grass).

Showcase Quality
- Multiple highlights, mixing of GW-style and more traditional block
painting techniques.
- Careful highlighting of all edges, rather than just drybrush highlights.
- Use of additional techniques such as rust effects, layered gem painting,
and freehand designs.
- More extensive blending for smoother color transitions.
- More advanced basing work (on request). Seasonal effects, mixed
color grasses.
- Weathering and battle damage on vehicles (on request).

Exhibition Quality
- Multiple highlights using traditional block painting techniques.
- Highlighting of not just edges but panels and flat areas.
- Use of additional techniques such as rust effects, layered gem painting,
and freehand designs.
